The order placed by Brazilian energy company AES Brasil Energia SA (BVMF:AESB3), part of US power firm AES Corp (NYSE:AES), calls for the supply and installation of 65 units of the Nordex N163/5.X machines in an operating mode of 5.7 MW.
The turbines will form the Cajuina 2 wind farm, set to be located in the city of Lajes, the state of Rio Grande do Norte. It is being developed as an extension to the 314-MW Cajuina wind park, which is also being equipped by Nordex.
The latest contract also includes a five-year service agreement, which can be extended to up to 20 years.
Nordex is due to start installing the turbines in the summer of 2022. The turbines will be majority manufactured in Brazil, the German firm noted.
