February 20 (Renewables Now) - Germany’s Nordex SE (ETR:NDX1) today announced a wind turbine order of 83 MW for a project in Brazil’s Rio Grande do Norte state.

The deal calls for Nordex to supply and install 24 units of its AW132/3465 turbines and also includes a service agreement for the maintenance and repair of the machines for 15 years. Financial details were not available.

The equipment will be installed under the fourth phase of a 256-MW wind project near the city of Sao Miguel do Gostoso. Nordex will use 120-m concrete towers that will be produced at its local factory in Areia Branca, in Rio Grande do Norte, while the turbine nacelles will be made at its plant in Bahia state. The rotor blades will be sourced locally so that the manufacturer achieves a maximum share of local production for the project, it said.

The 256-MW wind complex will have a total of 74 turbines, once completed. Nordex has supplied 50 AW132 turbines for the first three phases.
