Nordex SE (ETR:NDX1), in partnership with Argentine aircraft maker Fabrica Argentina de Aviones "Brigadier San Martin" SA (FAdeA), held on Wednesday the official opening ceremony of a wind turbine factory in Cordoba, Argentina.
The duo agreed to build the assembly line in December 2018 and managed to get the production going in mid-April this year. Built on what used to be an abandoned scrap heap, the plant’s nacelles and hubs assembly shop has the capacity to produce up to 500 MW annually. The new factory has already produced a batch of AW 132/3300 nacelles for Argentine power utility AES Generacion SA, of the US energy group AES Corp (NYSE:AES).
Nordex is also building three production plants for concrete towers in Cordoba through subcontractors. The German turbine maker said that by buying locally produced equipment, its clients would be entitled to significant tax benefits.
