July 13 (Renewables Now) - Coal miner NLC India Ltd (BOM:513683) is looking for contractors to build and maintain 709 MW of solar power plants in Tamil Nadu state, with the deadline for bids being August 4.
Late last week the company invited solar developers and operators to submit bids and set the minimum capacity per single project at 50 MW.
The sale of tender documents starts on Friday. The scope of work will include procurement of land, design, engineering, manufacture, supervision, installation, testing and commissioning, as well as grid connection. Also, the winning contractors will operate and maintain (O&M) the capacity for 15 years.
NLC India emerged as one of the winners in the 1.5-GW solar tender launched earlier this year by Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO). In it, the lowest bid arrived at INR 3.47 (USD 0.054/EUR 0.047) per kWh.
The mining company noted that the solar power plants have to be commissioned 12 months from the date of issue of the Letter of Award.
