The Nidec Industrial Solutions (NIS) business of Japan's Nidec Corp (TYO:6594) has signed a memorandum of understating (MoU) to provide construction and maintenance for four photovoltaic (PV) projects with battery storage in France.
The agreement is with Corsica Sole and the four projects are part of a 13-MWp pipeline that Corsica Sole secured in a French tender concerning non-interconnected zones (ZNI).
NIS has already signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the first project, which will have PV capacity of 4.78 MWp and battery storage of 7.5 MWh. It will be located near Bastia, Corsica and will be completed by April 2018.
"This project, and those to come next, demonstrate that it is already technologically possible, economically feasible and socially beneficial today to achieve 100% renewable energy mix," said Corsica Sole chief executive Michael Coudyser.
NIS also said it will exceed 500 MWh of installed battery energy storage systems this year. The company has more than 430 MWh in service and a further 59 MWh are expected to become operational later in 2017.
