November 21 (Renewables Now) - Paris-based Nexans SA (EPA:NEX) will be supplying Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) with Windlink cable kits for onshore wind turbines under a new two-year global supply contract.

Nexans said in a statement that it will deliver both medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) cable kits from hubs close to Vestas operations in Europe, China, the US and Brazil. Those kits will be installed inside Vestas wind turbines around the world.

Furthermore, the French company has launched a resident engineer programme with its long-term partner in the framework of which they have been cooperating to reduce the levelized cost of energy (LCOE). Nexans noted it has thus aided Vestas in optimising cabling engineering and design time to cut LCOE by speeding up the time-to-market for new more performant turbines.
