(SeeNews) - Oct 25, 2013 - US energy infrastructure company New Generation Power Inc said on Wednesday it had won a deal from the US Army to develop solar and geothermal projects for the Department of Defence (DOD).
Under the DOD’s multiple award task order contract (MATOC) programme, New Generation Power will team up with other geothermal and solar contractors that can take part in future geothermal and solar technology projects for the Army’s Energy Initiatives Task Force (EITF) and the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). Other project members will be power management firm Eaton Corp (NYSE:ETN), Martifer Solar USA, part of Portuguese industrial group Martifer SGPS SA (ELI:MAR), Golder Associates, Power Engineers, security and aerospace group Lockheed Martin Corp (NYSE:LMT) and Veolia Energy North America, a unit of French utility group Veolia Environnement (EPA:VIE).
The current order represents the second MATOC award for Chicago-based New Generation Power, In September the company won a solar contract under the same programme.
The DOD has channelled USD 7 billion (EUR 5.1bn) into the MATOC scheme for the construction of renewable energy facilities, including solar, geothermal, wind and biomass.
