September 30 (Renewables Now) - Brazilian utility company Neoenergia SA (BVMF:NEOE3) has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with local infrastructure and logistical service provider Prumo Logistica to study the generation of green hydrogen and offshore wind power in Rio de Janeiro's north region.
The firms are planning to carry out studies within the state's Porto do Acu port, where the projects could benefit from the port infrastructure during the installation and operation stages, Neoenergia said on Thursday.
The Brazilian renewable energy unit of Spanish utility group Iberdrola SA (BME:IBE) did not mention further details such as the potential investment or the targeted green hydrogen and offshore wind power production capacity.
In addition to Rio de Janeiro, Neoenergia also signed green hydrogen MoUs with the governments of Pernambuco, Ceara, Rio Grande do Norte and Rio Grande do Sul. The last one also includes an offshore wind scheme.
