September 20 (Renewables Now) - Nautilus Solar Energy LLC announced on Monday the purchase of two New York-based community solar portfolios totalling 25 MW from international developer Cipriani Energy Group Corp.

The portfolios are comprised of eight community solar schemes at different stages of development and will be co-developed by Nautilus and Cipriani.

The first solar assets are expected to start operation by the fourth quarter of 2023. Once up and running, the portfolio will offer an alternative energy option to New Yorkers within the National Grid and New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) electric utility territory.

Cipriani's founder and CEO, Lorenzo Cipriani, noted that this agreement helps the state to achieve its renewable energy goals while bringing the benefits of community solar to New York's residents at the same time.

Currently, under its Climate Act, New York state is targeting a 70% share of renewables in its electricity mix by 2030.
