Jul 8, 2014 - US firm Natcore Technology (CVE:NXT) said yesterday it haс submitted layouts for an up to 100-MW solar cell production facility in Australia, to be operated via a joint venture with local diversified group Denzo Pty Ltd.
The layouts envisage a minimum annual production capacity for the plant of 30 MW. The joint entity, to be called Natcore Australia, will initially use existing technologies at the factory and will later deploy new ones as they become available. Natcore mentioned it will select the plant equipment from manufacturers in Germany, China and elsewhere around the world. It expects to make recommendations on a "best of breed" basis.
The parties have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with regard to the JV formation in September 2013. They are currently calculating land, facility and labor costs and the domestic and export sales potential.
Denzo has determined the facility should be constructed on either a site in New South Wales or near the Wellcamp West Brisbane Airport in Queensland. The JV is expected to be funded through government and private sources. It will be granted exclusive access to Natcore's intellectual property portfolio in Australia.
