Motech to keep PV cell factory in full operation in Q4 2010, Q1 2011
(ADPnews) - Oct 27, 2010 - Taiwanese solar photovoltaic (PV) producer Motech Industries Inc (TPO:6244) will keep its solar cell factory in full operation by March 2011 despite the anticipated drop in PV equipment prices, Motech CEO Chang Ping-heng said today.
Even if solar cell prices fell 10%, Motech would still manage, Ping-heng said.
Moreover, Motech could not meet the demand for PV cells by its customers for the fourth quarter of 2010 and the first quarter of 2011. Ping-heng added that even if demand in Germany decreased due to solar subsidies cuts, the US and Canada will partly offset this decline.
In 2011, Motech is aiming to expand its solar capacity to 1.75 GW from 1.1 GW in 2010.
