Motech Industries branches out to module production

(ADPnews) - Oct 15, 2010 - Taiwanese solar photovoltaic (PV) producer Motech Industries Inc (TPO:6244) said on Wednesday it added PV module production to its activities.

The firm's two module models -- IM60 and IM72 -- have obtained certificates from Underwriter Laboratories Inc and the International Electrotechnical Commission. Motech has already started module shipments to the US market, the firm said.

The move follows Motech's strategy for vertical integration. Furthermore, the company is planning to meet the requirements of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and manufacture its products in the US, Motech president and CEO PH Chang said in a statement.

ARRA is an economic stimulus package introduced in February 2009 to promote investment and consumer spending in the recession.
