More small PV plants installed in Germany in Jan-May 2013

Jul 26, 2013 - The combined capacity of small solar power plants, of up to 10 kW, installed in the first five months of 2013 in Germany increased by 2 MW on the year to 256 MW, solar association DSC Potsdam said on Thursday.

If strong demand continues through the year, a total of 80,000 new PV systems with a total capacity of 520 MW will be installed in 2013.

Solar feed-in tariffs for small PV systems currently stand at EUR 0.15 (USD 0.20). Along with this stimulus, many German households prefer to generate the electricity they need themselves as utilities do not pass low wholesale energy prices on to their customers, DCS Potsdam said.

The figures show that the 40%-50% reduction in PV installed capacity in Germany refers only to big solar plants, DCS said.
