Meyer Burger Technology AG (SWF:MBTN) has received a CHF-21-million (USD 22m/EUR 19.3m) order covering production technologies and equipment for photovoltaic (PV) wafers and cells from an existing customer in China.
The new equipment will add about 700 MW of combined annual production capacity to the customer’s portfolio, boosting the conversion efficiency of its solar PV cells, too, Meyer Burger said.
The deal with the Asian tier-one supplier calls for the Swiss company’s new DW288 Series 3 diamond wire-based cutting equipment for wafers along with the MAiA 2.1 technology platform with MB PERC upgrades for solar cell production.
Meyer Burger will start delivering and commissioning the systems in October 2016, it said in a press statement on Thursday.
The unnamed customer plans to put the new equipment into production during the first quarter 2017.
