Meyer Burger bags Swiss order for bifacial, HJT solar modules

Meyer Burger Technology AG (SWF:MBTN) has received an order to produce the modules for a bifacial, high-efficiency and integrated solar system to be installed at a Migros Aare Cooperative building in Switzerland.

The Swiss solar machinery firm said on Tuesday that it has been contracted to produce more than 2,200 photovoltaic (PV) high efficiency modules, using its heterojunction (HJT) solar cell coating and SmartWire Connection Technology (SWCT). The panels will then be installed on the roof of the Migros operations centre in Schoenbuehl.

Financial details on the project agreement were not given. The solar array will be generating up to 900 MWh of electricity annually for use by Migros directly on the premises.

Meyer Burger explained that compared with conventional PV installations, the mix of HJT and bifacial modules leads to considerably higher energy yields.
