Located in Reynosa municipality, the wind power facility represents an investment of almost USD 600 million (EUR 526m). It is comprised of 123 wind turbines and has an expected generation equivalent to the whole residential demand of the state, the local government announced on Monday.
During the inauguration ceremony, Tamaulipas governor Francisco Garcia Cabeza de Vaca announced that the state has plans to create a wind research centre in Reynosa in colaboration with local universities.
The Reynosa wind farm is helping boost the economy of the region, particularly in the 17 rural communities located in its surrounding area by, among other things, the rehabilitation of roads, the government noted.
