Jul 26, 2013 - Representatives of Mexican and US governments held yesterday a meeting to analyse the launch of a joint mechanism for promoting renewable energy projects.
The delegations shared the recent developments and tools around policies in the sector, highlighting the priority of renewable energy in their planning strategies, the Mexican Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.
Moreover, the US and Mexican representatives discussed measures to boost cooperation in energy efficiency regulation, such as the approval of joint standards, economic incentives and introduction of energy management systems in buildings and large users.
The advancements of the initiatives under the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas and the possible participation of Mexico of the 21st Century Power Partnership were also reviewed.
The event was part of the US-Mexico Bilateral Framework on Clean Energy and Climate Change and was agreed by the Presidents of Mexico, Enrique Pena Nieto, and the USA, Barack Obama, during their meeting in Mexico City in May.
