Jun 4, 2014 - Martifer Solar, part of Portuguese industrial group Martifer SGPS SA (ELI:MAR), said Tuesday it had put on stream an 11-MW solar park in southern France.
The facility was installed for local wind and solar plant operator and developer Eco Delta under an engineering, procurement and construction contract. Martifer Solar will also deliver operation and maintenance (O&M) services for the plant.
The 11-MW park is situated in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur region. It consists of 42,592 photovoltaic (PV) modules that are expected to generate about 17 GWh of electricity annually. According to Martifer Solar’s estimates, the output of the plant will be enough to meet the power needs of 7,400 people in the region and help save 1,345 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year.
Martifer Solar has been operating in France since 2009 and has built nearly 50 MW of solar parks there.
A recent report from French Ministry of Ecology, Energy and Sustainable Development reveals that only about 1% of France’s power comes from solar PV systems.
