Maple to start production at Peru ethanol project in Q3 2011
(ADPnews) - Oct 14, 2010 - Maple Gas, a subsidiary of Peruvian-focused energy company Maple Energy Plc (LON:MPLE), will start production at its ethanol project in Piura, northwestern Peru, round the third quarter of 2011, the project's development manager, Nabil Katabi said yesterday.
The undertaking, seen to require USD 254 million (EUR 180.4m) investments, envisages the production of 35 million gallons (32.5 million litres) of ethanol per year.
The project consists in the development of 11,000 ha (27,181 acres) of sugar cane plantations and a 37.5 MW co-generation sugar cane bagasse-fired plant.
In August, Maple said it had agreed to sell most of the output to Japanese commodity trader Mitsui & Co Ltd (TYO:8031).
