Chilean energy commission CNE has released a list of 15 power producers that will compete in the 2022 auction to supply a total of 5,250 GWh of electricity per year in until the end of 2041.
The following 15 all submitted economic and administrative offers, according to CNE’s auction update:

Empresa Electrica Pilmaiquen SA
wpd Malleco SpA
FRV Development Chile I SpA
Innergex Energia Renovable SpA
Inversiones la Frontera Sur SpA

Among the bidders are well known renewable energy companies, including some that participated in the 2021 round, which saw renewables sweep the technology-neutral auction. Last year also drew a much larger turnout, with 29 companies over-flooding CNE with offers as they vied for contracts to supply 2,310 GWh/year of power to qualified distributors.
Again, distributors will be awarding 15-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) to secure electricity -- from any source, but no fossil-fuel back-up -- for their residential and SME customers between between January 1, 2027 and December 31, 2041.
After some initial postponement, the auction is proceeding as scheduled. Bids were due and submitted by July 1. According to CNE’s timeline, the awards act remains pencilled in for July 25.
