Chinese solar modules supplier Longi Green Energy Technology Co Ltd (SHA:601012) has delivered modules for a 9-MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) car canopy system in Malaysia.
The order was placed by Pekat Solar, a local solar investor and EPC company, Longi said today. Malaysia-based MFP Solar is the project's owner as well as its investor.
The PV system consisting of bifacial modules was installed at Proton Tanjung Malim car manufacturing plant. It covers an area of 23.4 acres (9.4 hectares) and is expected to be capable of meeting up to 25% of the power consumption at the plant, enough to offset around 11 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
Proton uses the car park as a transit point for cars produced at the plant prior to their distribution to dealers and outlets across Malaysia.
According to Longi's statement, the asset is currently the largest car canopy solar system in Malaysia.
