May 7 (Renewables Now) - German certification agency TÜV-SÜD has tested and verified that the front side power of a 72-cell bifacial half-cut module developed by China’s Longi Solar has exceeded 450 W, which is a new world record.

Longi also set the world record for the highest power of a 60-cell Passivated Emitter and Rear Contact (PERC) half-cut module in April 2018, with a panel exceeding 360 W. In January 2019, the company broke the industry's previously theoretical PERC cell efficiency limit of 24% by reaching 24.06%.

The Chinese photovoltaics (PV) developer has registered 526 patents for its products. It invested over USD 183 million (EUR 163m) in research and development (R&D) last year, it noted.
