Lithuania's BOD Group may build solar factory in Malaysia
Sep 17, 2014 - Malaysia’s Majuperak Energy Resources Sdn Bhd and the BOD Group of Lithuania have entered into a cooperation agreement that may lead to the construction of a 100-MW glass-glass solar panel factory in the state of Perak.
The two parties have signed the deal today, with plans to launch a pilot project near Ipoh, the capital of the Malaysian state, to showcase the specific solar modulebtype. The panels made by BOD, also known as Baltic Optical Disks Group, can be used for building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) applications.
The construction of a factory for such products would make Perak the solar panel production hub of southeast Asia. Local news agency Bernama quoted Zambry Abdul Kadir, the current Menteri Besar of Perak, as saying that the state government plans to introduce policy initiatives regarding both solar and hydropower.
Majuperak Energy Resources is part of the Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP).
