August 8 (Renewables Now) - Utility-scale solar developer Lightsource BP said today it has acquired six US solar projects from Orion Renewable Energy Group LLC with a combined direct current (DC) capacity of 135 MW.

This particular solar development portfolio includes assets in the liquid PJM power pool and specifically in the states of Pennsylvania and Maryland.

Lightsource BP noted that its move comes after the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) recently published a draft plan to grow in-state solar resources to 11 GW. It sets a goal for solar power to meet 10% of the state's electric retail sales by 2030.

“We are accelerating the development of solar with a strong focus on new and underserved markets, as it is an important component of a diverse fuel mix,” commented Nick Boyle, Lightsource BP Group CEO.
