Lark Energy gets planning permit for 32-MWp Leicestershire solar park
Nov 15, 2012 - UK solar project firm Lark Energy on Tuesday said it had received planning permit to build a 32-MWp solar power plant in Leicestershire, the UK.
Charnwood Borough Council issued the planning permission for the project, which is worth GBP 35 million (USD 55m/EUR 44m), on November 8. The company secured financing for the solar farm together with UK investment manager Hazel Capital LLC.
The company is to build the solar farm on 150 acres (61 hectares) of land at Wymeswold Airfield, with construction to begin by the end of the month. The facility will include about 125,000 solar modules.
Under an agreement between Lark Energy and Hazel Capital, the investment manager would take over the project rights in order to construct the solar park before March 31, 2013, when remuneration for such projects is expected to be cut under the current regulations.
