(ADPnews) - Dec 15, 2010 - US construction services firm Kinney Construction Services on Monday said it designed and installed an 806-kW photovoltaic (PV) system for the Sedona-Oak Creek School District in Arizona.
The installation, which is located at the Sedona Red Rock High School, includes 3,838 high-efficiency solar panels supplied by solar equipment provider Kyocera Solar, a unit of Japanese Kyocera Corp (TYO:6971). The system will generate 1.45 million kWh of power per year, enough to supply 126 households and offset carbon emissions equal to eliminating 199 passenger cars, according to Kinney.
The system is part of Sedona-Oak Creek School District's Alternative Energy Project aimed at reducing utility costs and protecting the environment through the establishment of PV systems, a solar hot water heater system and geothermal technologies. The whole project is expected to be completed by June 2011.
Kinney also said it has started to design and install other PV systems with Kyocera modules for the school district, including a 42-kW system at the district's office and a 60-kW one at West Sedona School.
