January 16 (Renewables Now) - UK-based infrastructure investor John Laing Group Plc (LON:JLG) has hired Macquarie Capital Ltd (ASX:MQG) to find buyers for its 500-MW Aussie renewable energy portfolio, according to the Australian Financial Review (AFR).

John Laing has initiated the sales process but is not likely to launch a formal auction in the coming months as the process is in its early days, AFR’s Street Talk writes, quoting unnamed sources.

The portfolio that is being sold comprises five wind and solar parks spread across the country, including the 58-MW Cherry Tree wind farm in Victoria, the 133-MW Finley solar farm in New South Wales and the 112-MW Granville wind farm in Tasmania.

The report also says that these assets could lure suitors such as HRL Morrison and AMP Capital, as well as a large strategic investor that seeks to enter the market.
