JinkoSolar to supply panels for 1-MW solar plant in S Africa
Aug 31, 2012 - JinkoSolar Holding Co Ltd (NYSE: JKS) has teamed up with Solea Renewables on a 1-MW photovoltaic (PV) facility in South Africa, the solar product maker said on Friday.
JinkoSolar will provide 4,170 polycrystalline PV panels for the fully integrated turnkey PV facility, while Solea Renewables, part of Germany's Solea AG, will design, engineer and construct the power plant.
The installation will be build at a chrome mine in Limpopo province in northern South Africa. It will generate around 1.8 GWh of power annually, reducing the mine's diesel consumption during the day for the coming two to three decades.
The project, touted as the first off-grid utility-scale PV facility in South Africa, is in line with the country's aim to boost the share of renewables in its power mix.
