JinkoSolar supplies 304 kW of solar modules to S Africa
Jul 10, 2013 - Chinese photovoltaics (PV) maker JinkoSolar Holding Co Ltd (NYSE:JKS) said Wednesday it had supplied 304 kW of solar modules for a South African roof-mounted PV project developed by German sector firm Soventix GmbH.
The Johannesburg-located installation will feature over 1,200 JinkoSolar modules and will be capable of generating some 443,840 kWh annually, avoiding almost 72 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
According to JinkoSolar’s chief marketing officer Arturo Herrero, the company has already secured approximately 300 MW in contracts for the first and second rounds of the South African public power tenders. Under its Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer (IPP) Procurement Programme South Africa aims to install 3,725 MW of renewable energy capacity by 2016. The scheme has already turned it into an attractive destination for green energy developers and equipment suppliers.
