JinkoSolar, SISP to work on high-efficiency solar technology

January 8 (Renewables Now) - JinkoSolar Holding Co Ltd (NYSE:JKS) on Tuesday said it was co-developing high efficiency solar cell technology for space and other applications with Shanghai Institute of Space Power-Sources (SISP).

The new solar cells will use more efficient, low-cost, robust silicon wafers as the supporting bottom substrate and bottom cell. The cells have robust and rugged design and much lower degradation which makes it suitable for use in space. The high efficiency, on the other hand, can support auxiliary power units in vehicles, solar roof tiles, power plants, and smart grid systems.

This high-efficiency solar technology is still in the early stages of development and the partnership between JinkoSolar and SISP will help develop it further.

"In the future, we will continue to increase technical cooperation, leading our industry in the name of technical innovation and providing more efficient solar panels with a wider range of choices for global customer," JinkoSolar vice president Jin Hao said.
