Dec 27, 2013 - Chinese solar module maker JinkoSolar Holding Co Ltd (NYSE:JKS) said Friday it had recently connected to the grid 80 MW of solar parks thus meeting its 2013 on-grid capacity target of 213 MW in China.
The newest four 20-MW solar plants are located in Alar, Shaya, Bohu and Wusuin in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
“We will continue to expand our downstream business and aim to reach an aggregate amount of more than 500 MW worth of projects by the end of 2014,” said JinkoSolar chairman Xiande Li. He added that the combined output would reach 750 million kWh.
More and more solar photovoltaic (PV) product manufacturers, especially in China, are diversifying into the downstream segment in an effort to boost their revenues. JinkoSolar is no exception. The 213 MW that the company has already brought on stream are estimated to produce 324 million kWh per year and to avoid 256,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year. All of these parks will sell their output for 20 years under China’s feed-in tariffs.
