China's JinkoSolar Holding (NYSE:JKS) said today it has finalised the delivery of photovoltaic (PV) modules for the 140-MW DC North Star solar project in the US state of Minnesota.
The Chinese company has shipped more than 440,000 of its 72-cell polycrystalline modules for the project located in Chisago County. The plant will be generating enough electricity to meet the annual consumption of more than 20,000 homes. It will be the largest single solar plant in the Midwest, JinkoSolar said.
The facility is being built by Swinerton Renewable Energy (SRE). DE Shaw Renewable Investments LLC (DESRI), part of the DE Shaw Group, bought the project from developer Community Energy Inc earlier this year. The solar park will be selling its output under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Minnesota-based Xcel Energy Inc (NYSE:XEL), DESRI said at the time.
The plant is expected to be hooked to the grid next month.
