JFE's engineering arm to build 40 MW of solar parks in Japan

Nov 2, 2012 - The engineering division of Japan-based JFE Holdings Inc (TYO:5411) is to install 40 MW of solar capacity in Japan, the company said on Friday.

The company will build six solar parks which will have a combined annual output of 3,900 million kWh, enough to supply around 10,700 households and offset around 18,500 tonnes in carbon dioxide a year.

The solar farms will be developed in Mie, Hokkaido, Okayama, Miyagi, Tochigi and Shizuoka prefectures. Four facilities will commence operations in 2013, one in April 2014 and the last one in January 2015.

Local utilities will purchase the power produced by the solar plants.
