Japan's NTT to develop 531-kW PV system for Izumo Togo

NTT scheme for local Izumo Electronics

August 26 (Renewables Now) - Japanese firm NTT Facilities Inc said today it has signed an agreement to build a 530.9-kW photovoltaic (PV) power plant for local company Izumo Togo Electronics Corp in Shimane prefecture.

NTT Facilities, a subsidiary of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp (TYO:9432), said that the solar farm is planned to start power generation in March of next year.

To be built in the town of Izumo, the PV array is expected meet 33% of the demand of the company's factory and headquarters with clean electricity.

The F Green Izumo Solar Power Station, as the project is named, will be producing an estimated 604 MWh of electricity per year, offsetting around 300 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year.

In May, NTT announced it would develop a 1-MW rooftop PV system for carmaker Subaru Corp's (TYO:7270) factory in Gunma prefecture.
