December 5 (Renewables Now) - The renewables subsidiary of Italian utility A2A SpA (BIT:A2A) has struck a deal to buy a roughly 1,000-MW solar project development pipeline from the Talesun group.

A2A Renewables is acquiring the schemes with the intention of implementing them without relying on any subsidies, the utility said in a statement.

The company plans to start building a 10-MW solar park in the province of Foggia in the early months of 2020. It will be A2A’s first large-scale “market parity” plant and one of the first in Italy, according to the announcement. The project envisages experimentation with new technologies and utility-scale storage systems.

A2A also pointed out that this transaction follows its prior purchase of PV plants totalling 100 MW. These are located in Trentino Alto Adige, Piedmont, Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Lazio, Abruzzo, Marche, Apulia, Campania, Calabria, Sicily and Sardinia.
