Italy’s Gestore dei Servizi Energetici GSE SpA has awarded a total of 975 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) and onshore wind capacity in the seventh and last renewable energy auction of 2021.
A total of 59 solar PV projects and 18 onshore wind schemes were successful in the auction for the so-called Group A that concerns projects above 1 MW.
In a separate registration process outside the auction, GSE also awarded 251.5 MW to onshore wind and solar PV projects with sizes ranging from 1 kW to 1 MW plus 110.3 MW specifically to rooftop PV installations.
In total, the energy agency has awarded 1.47 GW of renewable energy projects, whether in the auction or the registration process, and including hydro schemes, both new-built and refurbished.
GSE today launches the eight call that will make available to operators over 3.3 GW of capacity not assigned in the prior calls. It is scheduled to close on March 2 and if any capacity is left, a ninth call will take place on May 31, 2022.
