Italian, US firms study two wind parks construction in Mexico's Nuevo Leon
Nov 16, 2011 - Private Italian and US companies are studying the feasibility of building two wind parks in the General Bravo and Mina municipalities in Mexico's northern Nuevo Leon state, the sustainable development secretary of Nuevo Leon, Fernando Gutierrez, said yesterday.
According to Gutierrez, the projects will have a capacity of 200 MW each. Investments may total USD 1 billion (EUR 743.6m).
Nuevo Leon already has one wind plant, in Santa Catarina municipality, whose installed capacity stands at 20 MW.
At the end of December, the state's government will present a programme for sustainable development, which will provide details about Nuevo Leon's strategy for the energy sector, Gutierrez added.
