September 28 (Renewables Now) - Italy’s Gestore dei Servizi Energetici GSE SpA on Monday announced the winners in the sixth out of seven planned renewables auctions, awarding 593.3 MW in the 1-MW-plus category.

Wind and solar got almost equal shares of the awards, with 12 wind projects securing nearly 296 MW of capacity in the tender, and 22 solar farms winning almost 298 MW.

All winning bids offered discounts of roughly 2% to the ceiling price of EUR 70 (USD 82) per MWh set by the GSE. A wind project with a capacity of 23.1 MW made the lowest bid at a discount of 2.06%.

Again, the tender was undersubscribed.
