Israel's Econergy cuts sod on 51-MW solar project in Poland

September 14 (Renewables Now) - Israeli independent power producer (IPP) Econergy Renewable Energy Ltd (TLV:ECNR) has launched construction of its 51-MW Resko solar PV project in Poland, it announced on Wednesday.
The firm also said it had signed the EPC agreement with a contractor for the project after construction had already started, describing the unnamed hire as a “recognised and significant” EPC player in Europe with operations in 12 countries and portfolio of around 1.7 GW.
The project site in located in the town of Resko, northwestern Poland. Resko is Econergy’s first project in Poland to reach the construction stage, with the IPP seeing the solar farm enter commercial operation by July 2023.
Resko’s development was supported by Israeli insurer Phoenix Insurance, which contributed EUR 150 million (USD 149.9m) in loans and convertible loans towards Econergy’s projects in Poland and Romania.
In Poland, Econergy has a development pipeline with 41 solar PV projects totalling some 940 MW.
