India's Uttar Pradesh awaits bids in 200-MW solar tender

The Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has launched a tender for a 200-MW solar project that will be awarded through a tariff-based competitive bidding.

The minimum bidding capacity has been set at 50 MW, an unnamed UPNEDA official told consultancy Mercom Capital, while a single developer will be able to bid for the whole capacity only in separate 50-MW lots. The official added that developers from the private sector are expected to actively participate in the competition.

The deadline for submitting proposals is December 10. The opening of technical bids is scheduled for the next day, while financial proposals will be open on December 19.

According to the tender requirements, the 50-MW portions can be installed at multiple locations. Power from the winning projects will be purchased by local power distribution company Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) or to third parties under the open access scheme.

Apart from installing the capacity, developers will also be responsible for setting up the internal transmission system and operate and maintain the photovoltaic (PV) plants.
