July 6 (SeeNews) - Indian power producer NTPC Ltd (BOM:532555) will be accepting online bids from parties interested in developing a total of 420 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in the state of Rajasthan by mid-August.

A pre-bid conference will be held on July 24 to respond to bidder queries. The technical bidding deadline was previously set near the end of July but has now been extended.

NTPC wants six 70-MW plants to be built in Jodhpur district’s Bhadla Phase II solar complex under the second phase of the National Solar Mission (NSM).

Technical and financial bids can be submitted online by August 18, 2015. The opening date for the technical bids is set for August 20. The reverse auction details will be communicated separately with participants.

A week ago, Bloomberg said that NTPC will launch US dollar-tied tenders for between 500 MW and 1,000 MW of PV capacity in July. India’s renewable energy ministry joint secretary Tarun Kapoor told the news agency that this move could reduce developers’ borrowing costs and subsequently solar tariffs by one-third.
