India’s Andhra Pradesh plans 1-GW solar complex - report
Jul 15, 2014 - The government of India’s southeastern state of Andhra Pradesh intends to build a 1,000-MW solar park, the Hindu Business Line said today.
The plant will be situated in Guntur district, according to the report, which did not provide further details on the scheme. At present, Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Co Ltd, or AP Genco, is conducting a detailed review of the state’s power segment and is expected to issue a note within 10 days.
Last month, the Business Standard said that the Andhra Pradesh Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corp (TIIC) and the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) intend to construct a 1-GW solar park the state of Telangana, eastern India. The project is currently in a preliminary phase, K Pradeep Chandra, the principal chief secretary of industries at the government of Telangana was cited as saying.
