Impsa announces contract for Arauco wind farm expansion

(ADPnews) - Oct 26, 2010 - Argentine engineering firm Industrias Metalurgicas Pescarmona (Impsa) yesterday announced the signing of a contract with Argentina's La Rioja province for the expansion of the Arauco wind farm to 50 MW from 25 MW.

Impsa, which is currently installing the first 25 MW of the project, was the sole bidder for the expansion.

The company will supply and install additional 12 turbines of 2.1 MW each, and will be responsible for their operation and maintenance for five years.

The first 12 turbines will come onstream by the end of 2010, while the expansion will be concluded in early 2012.

The wind farm is located in the Aimogasta area, 120 km (75 miles) north of the capital city of the province.

Arauco is Impsa's most important project in Argentina, as it will be the largest wind farm in the country, Impsa's business development manager, Martin de los Santos, noted.
