Hydrous ethanol prices rise in 16 Brazilian states, drop in 10
Jul 26, 2011 - Hydrous ethanol prices at Brazil's fuel stations rose in 16 states and the Federal District, and fell in 10 last week, data released by Brazil's oil industry watchdog ANP showed.
According to ANP, the average price of ethanol in Brazil decreased by 0.15% on the week, to BRL 1.996 (USD 1.297/EUR 0.902) a litre.
The petrol (gasoline) price, in turn, fell in 13 states in the period, standing at BRL 2.756 a litre on average, down 0.11% fom the previous week.
The highest average ethanol and petrol prices were registered in the northern Acre state, BRL 2.561 and BRL 3.123 a litre, respectively.
The cheapest ethanol was sold in the western Mato Grosso state, where the biofuel cost BRL 1.669 a litre on average last week, while the lowest average petrol price was found in the northeastern Paraiba state, or BRL 2.499 a litre.
In the period, the ethanol price was competitive when compared to that of petrol only in Goias, Mato Grosso and Sao Paulo states.
