Aug 6, 2013 - Hydrous ethanol prices at Brazil's fuel stations fell in 15 states and rose in eight states in the seven days ended August 2, data released by Brazil's oil industry watchdog ANP showed.
The prices remained stable in three states and in the federal district Brasilia.
In the last month, hydrous ethanol prices decreased in 17 states, grew in seven, and remained unchanged in Brasilia, Paraiba and Piaui.
In southeastern Sao Paulo state, which is the country's biggest producer and consumer of the fuel, the average price of ethanol declined by 0.9% week-on-week to BRL 1.745 (USD 0.757/EUR 0.571) per litre, ANP noted. In the last month, they accumulated a 1.36% drop.
The largest decrease of 1.18% was registered in the Espirito Santo state, while the largest growth of 0.49% was seen in the Amapa state in the seven day s ended August 2.
Last week ethanol continued to be more competitive than petrol (gasoline) only in the states of Goias, Mato Grosso, Parana and Sao Paulo states. In the remaining 22 states and in Brasilia, the petrol's prices were more competitive, ANP noted.
