Hydrous ethanol prices drop in 14 Brazilian states, rise in 12
Jul 24, 2012 - Hydrous ethanol prices at Brazil's fuel stations dropped in 14 states last week, climbed in another 11 states and in the Federal District of Brasilia, and remained flat in one state, data released by Brazil's oil industry watchdog ANP showed.
The average price of ethanol in the country went down 0.37% in the period, to BRL 1.909 (USD 0.936/EUR 0.774) per litre, ANP said.
The price of petrol (gasoline) last week rose in 15 states and in the Federal District, and slipped in the remaining 11 states.
The average petrol price added 0.11% from the week before, to BRL 2.732 a litre.
According to ANP, in the observed period ethanol continued to be more competitive than petrol only in southeastern Sao Paulo, central-western Mato Grosso and central Goias states. Sao Paulo still had the cheapest ethanol in the country, sold at BRL 1.769 a litre on average.
