Norwegian high-pressure alkaline electrolyser manufacturer HydrogenPro AS (OSE:HYPRO) today unveiled plans to establish a 500-MW factory in Texas as it moves to set foot in the US, where incentives in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) are boosting demand for green hydrogen.
The company expects to invest between USD 30 million (EUR 28m) and USD 50 million in this brownfield project, which will increase its total manufacturing capacity to 800 MW. It said there is a potential to scale up the site to several gigawatts in the future.

"The US factory will be our bridgehead into the North American market,” said Tarjei Johansen, chief executive of HydrogenPro, whose technology is suitable for large-scale industrial applications.
The company explained it chose Texas after assessing locations based on factors such as access to site and skilled workers, infrastructure, ease of sourcing raw materials, end-users proximity and state-level incentives.
HydrogenPro says it already has a pipeline of projects in the US, sourced by its European sales team. The company intends to ramp up its US organisation in parallel with the manufacturing expansion.
