UK-based Hydrogen Utopia International (AQSE:HUI), specialising in recycling waste plastic into hydrogen, said it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Polish Romgos Gwiazdowscy to deploy jointly HUI facilities in Poland and Europe.
Romgos, active in energy infrastructure, has agreed to provide PLN 3 million (USD 689,000/EUR 637,000) to cover the initial costs for setting up a special purpose vehicle (SPV) for constructing the first facility, HUI said on Tuesday.
The Polish company will also be responsible for managing the process of obtaining national or EU grant funding for the 50/50-owned SPV which will build and operate the facilities.
Romgos, which has been on the Polish market for 10 years building gas pipelines, is currently expanding its activity into general construction and renewable energy sources. Romgos is looking forward to the cooperation with Hydrogen Utopia, CEO Mishel Gwiazdowski said.
HUI uses as feedstock non-recyclable mixed waste plastic to turn it into syngas from which hydrogen, electricity and heat can be produced. The company, set up in 2021, will target areas where EU or government backing in the form of grants or loans is available to help the transition from fossil fuel dependence towards climate neutrality, HUI noted.
