June 26 (Renewables Now) - Chinese telecommunications equipment and consumer electronics supplier Huawei Technologies Co Ltd has put an end to its US solar inverter sales activities, the company has confirmed for the Financial Times.

The move came as, over the past few months, the company was put under pressure to conform with the situation in the US, where the Trump administration and Congress members warned that the use of Huawei solar equipment could allow China to interfere with local power supplies, the report explains.

A representative for the company told the newspaper that Huawei had made the decision to eliminate several positions within its US representative office after carefully reviewing the situation.

According to the spokesperson, all warranty and customer service programmes in the US will continue to operate.
