Helvio Guerra takes office as director of Aneel
Brazilian electrical engineer Helvio Neves Guerra has taken office as the new director of Brazil's power sector regulator Aneel, the latter announced on Friday.
Guerra will occupy the chair until May 2022, filling the vacancy left by the resignation of Rodrigo Limp Nascimento, according to a decree published on November 5 in the country's official gazette.
Nominated by minister Bento Albuquerque, the new director recently served as the deputy secretary of the Energy Planning and Development Secretariat of the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) from March 2019 to October 2020.
Guerra held other positions in Aneel prior to this appointment, including four years as president of the agency's Special Bidding Commission, the arm responsible for the energy and transmission lines auctions, the institution noted.
